Rudolf Valenta graduated from the medical University of Vienna in 1987 and received a M.D. degree. From 1998 to 1993, he studied as postdoc at the Department of General and Experimental Pathology, University of Vienna, Austria at the Molecular Biology group. Since 1993, he has been the Head of the group “Molecular Immunopathology” in the Division of Immunopathology, Department of General and Experimental Pathology, Vienna General Hospital, University of Vienna, Austria, now Center for Pathophysiology, Infectiology and Immunology, Medical University of Vienna. In 1996, he received a certificate of specialist in pathophysiology, in 1998 – in immunology. In the period from 2002-2012, he was a speaker and coordinator of the special research program F18 “Molecular and immunological strategies for prevention, diagnosis and treatment of Type I allergies” at the Medical School, University of Vienna, Austria, and since 2012 - speaker and coordinator of the program F46 “Towards prevention and therapy of allergy” at the Medical University of Vienna, Austria. Since 2004, he has been a Professor for Allergology at the Medical University of Vienna. Since 2006 – Member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. Since 2009 – Member of the Academic Senate of the Medical University of Vienna.

Rudolf Valenta is the author of more than 600 scientific publications in the fields of immunology, molecular, cellular and clinical allergology, immunodiagnostics, infectology, vaccine development, gastroenterology and autoimmune pathology. He has more than 140 international patents.

Rudolf Valenta is a member of many Austrian and international scientific societies. Since 2000, he has been the Chairman of the standardization committee of the International Union of Immunological Societies (IUIS). From 2005 to 2007 - Second Vice-president of the European Academy of Allergology and Clinical Immunology (EAACI). From 2006 to 2008 -elected President of the Austrian society of Allergy and immunology, from 2008 to 2010-President of this society. Rudolf Valenta is also a member of the Russian Association of allergologists and clinical immunologists (RAACI), the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical immunology (EAACI), a member of the German society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, the Austrian biochemical society, the British society of immunology, etc. Rudolf Valenta is a member of the editorial Board of many scientific journals, including International Archives of Allergy and Immunology, Journal of Investigational Allergology & Clinical Immunology, European Journal of Clinical Investigation, Calcium Binding Proteins, etc.

Rudolf Valenta has a number of scientific awards, in 1991 he was awarded the Clemens von Pirke Award of the Austrian society of Allergy and immunology, in 1992-the gold medal of the European Foundation for Allergy research (F. A. R. E.), in 1996 - the international award of the Allergy Research Foundation, in 2009-the Paul Ehrlich award for experimental research of the European Academy of Allergy and clinical immunology, etc. Rudolf Valenta is a leading scientist in a number of studies, under his leadership, young scientists have completed more than 100 research projects. For many years, Rudolf Valenta has been working with the Russian researchers: NRC Institute of Immunology FMBA of Russia, First Sechenov Moscow State medical University f the Ministry of health of Russia (Sechenov University).
